NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS AND SELF-CARE

Do you find yourself, each year, making resolutions and by February you do not even remember what they were? Each January, year by year, we make a list of intentions after the guilt of perhaps over shopping, over spending, and eating too much during the holiday season.

Have you ever thought about making new habits throughout the year? Even the smallest of changes can lead to bigger changes and positive outcomes over time. For example, practicing a daily gratitude list can help to shift our mindset around work, home, and life challenges. Instead of looking at where we should be, what we should have, how others should be behaving, etc., look at what you do have and practice grace and gratitude. Avoid allowing social media to tell you where you should be and start loving yourself and appreciating right where you are today. You are always exactly where you should be at this moment.

Self-care is doing things we love and enjoy, allowing ourselves to take a break, and making choices for ourselves based on where we want to be in life. Adding a huge list of resolutions to an already overwhelmed day can lead to feelings of failure and more fatigue, and a complete abandonment of our intentions and self-care. Making slow and steady changes, practicing the changes we want to see over time, and taking the time to slow down and find joy in the small things-can walk us closer to our life goals.

"Acknowleding the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance." -Eckhart Tolle
